Microsoft adapts AI for finance teams with special 'Copilot' strategy

Microsoft opened a new tab Thursday to preview an artificial intelligence tool for customers' finance departments. This is part of a strategy to tailor new software to industries, professionals, and ultimately individuals.

The company said its tool, called "Microsoft Copilot for Finance," helps users check data sets for risk, create reports from raw numbers, and complete tasks that would normally be outsourced. Ta. No price or wider availability date has been announced.

The new AI tool follows similar tools Microsoft sells to sales and customer service representatives.

These tools typically cost $20 per user per month in addition to software subscription fees such as: B. His Copilot for Microsoft 365 ($30).

Corporate Vice President Emily He told reporters that Microsoft may tailor future co-pilots to marketing or supply chain roles.

The company's efforts to sell AI to take over sales and service operations are increasing competition from Salesforce (CRM.N), and opens in a new tab focused on these areas. Salesforce on Tuesday announced the availability of a competing AI assistant, Einstein Copilot.

Microsoft said at a media briefing in San Francisco that its specialized AI will help customers compose emails and perform tasks while relying on "customer relationship management" (CRM) systems developed by Microsoft and Salesforce. We have demonstrated how we can help.

Charles Lamanna, corporate vice president at Microsoft, told reporters that Copilot essentially keeps the CRM up to date and the CRM pulls information from it on behalf of the seller. He said he uses it "a lot less often and probably never will."

Such systems will continue to be actively used in the background, but the business models they support will likely change, Ramanna said.
