Yulia Navalnaya's X (formerly Twitter) account was suspended a day after she promised to use the platform to continue campaigning for her husband. On Monday, days after Alexei Navalny was confirmed dead in a Russian prison, she released a video pledging to fight for a "free Russia."
On Tuesday afternoon, her account was temporarily unavailable to users. X said in her statement that she was "inadvertently" blocked due to a "system error." A post on the site's official security account said, "Due to our platform's defense mechanisms against defacement and spam, @yulia_navalnaya was incorrectly reported as violating our rules."
"As soon as we become aware of the error, we will unblock the account and update our defense.''
Ms. Navalnaya, who usually kept a low profile during her late husband's campaign, tweeted on Monday I created an account on the day.
In a video message released the same day, Ms. Navalnaya accused Russian authorities of waiting until traces of the deadly nerve agent Novichok had disappeared from her husband's body before passing it on to her family. The Kremlin said the accusations were baseless and an investigation into his death was ongoing.
The emotional video statement, in which her voice shakes with sadness and anger, was widely shared by other users.
